Healing

May 26, 2011

My life's experiences have not been easy. It has been a challenging, yet fulfilling journey that I have experienced to date.
I have been brought up in a very loving and nurturing household. Two parents that love me and have provided me with the world, even in times of their own struggles financially.
However, nothing was going to prepare me for the losses I then experienced as an adult. With 4 young children in tow,
my husband and I learnt that he had an inoperable tumour which had then spread to other organs of his body. He was given 6 months at the time. through shear determination and strength, and an overwhelming desire to beat his incurable disease, he turned 6 months into 2 years. My family support was incredible. As a nurse, I then was able to take care of my husband and granted his wish of dying at home.
He introduced me, through his illness, to alternative medicine. Apart from the conventional mainstream treatments of chemo and radiation, he started to use reiki, Chinese medicine and Naturopathy. His fight was courageous and when he eventually succumbed to his illness, he left the mark of true courage and strength. The ability to maintain a positive attitude even when life seemed bleak.
My family were always on hand to support me and my children. I ended up with depression a couple of times and was medicated for it. Through my husband's legacy of strength, I was able to rise above and create healing for myself.
His death opened a door for me into the realm of spirituality and the unseen. Much of my own healing came from immersing myself in courses and an appetite to truly understand the gifts that were being shown to me.
All in the same time I also had to deal with the grief and problems that were arising within my children and still to this day, 7 years down the track, 3 out of 4 children are still needed counselling.
Three years after my husband died, my mother, who will always remain my rock, comforter, and wise owl, lost her battle with breast cancer. I felt at this point a huge part of me die. The woman that carried me in her womb and nurtured me for those 9 months and then in my lifetime, in which I got to be with her, was gone.
The saying 'life is a journey and not a destination', couldn't be more true. Our lives are full of challenges, round abouts and roller coasters. For me, the deaths I experienced of my husband and mother, brought about some healing and acknowledgements in a huge way. We can choose to ride with them or we can ignore it and create dis-ease rather than create the healing that we need mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually.
For me, I found I had to learn the acceptance of being loved (other than family). I shut myself down at the heart with a huge wall. I didn't want to experience the hurt anymore. Through my own healing practises and crystals and the many visits to other energy healers, kiniesiologists and so on, I was able to create the healing I needed to move on. It took me 6 years to learn to accept the love of another and let him into my life.
The reason I share this now is I think people need to understand that the people we attract into our lives is because on many levels we mirror them in some way or another. What many people don't realise is that as a healer, we too attract those who come into our lives seeking help. Sometimes it's obvious and sometimes it's not so clear. What I have found in the past week of setting up grids and helping others that it has also brought up healing for myself. Healing of one issue may take a lifetime. When we deal with a matter on one level, the next time we are confronted with the issue, we are able to take it to the next level of healing as we have dealt with it before. Over a lifetime, I believe we become our own best healers as long as you are willing to be open and confront your issues. Of course there is guidance on the way whether it be medical or complimentary therapies.
My moral now is that we all have our shadow sides. A huge part of our journeys in this lifetime, and yes if you are here you are meant to be here, is to learn to become more adaptable, weave through obstacles and create inner strengths and firm foundations. To know that love is here for all of us to learn, own and give. To create the balances within our lives to firstly love and respect ourselves. To know we are all worthy and chosen to be here in the physical for whatever the reasons.
As the Earth and ourselves are evolving and reaching levels of higher consciousness and vibrations, now is the time to awaken and to see the good within yourselves, to give and take equally and be the best you can be however you are meant to get there on your paths.
As healers, we also attract those who we mirror in some way. Not only are we able to initiate, create or catalyse a healing for a person who is already open to the healing process, we are also creating and helping our own healing needs.
People will come and go within our lives. It may cause sadness or even create a question to why. People come and go. They are there for a reason, a season or a lifetime. Remember as you evolve and heal, your path may take a different direction to other people within your life. If your healing is faster than theirs, this is when you start to pull away and move on. If we don't vibrate at the same frequencies, we fortunately or unfortunately move on.
I am grateful to have been given my path. If the events in my life didn't occur,as much as it would have been nice to experience a different way, I wouldn't be here we I am today. I don't regret or wish I could have done things differently because I believe everything happens for a reason. My husband and mother's death was their journey but within their journey's they have relayed some amazing gifts.
My biggest life lesson has been "for every crisis there is a gift".
